District 22 deserves a full-time Congressman whose greatest aspiration is to serve our district. Ours is one of the most dynamic and complex districts in the nation. Issues of transportation; quality education; strong, sustainable growth; public safety, and good jobs require the direct and consistent participation of our Congressman.
My connection to this district runs deep. My wife Ellen and I live in a house my great-grandfather built more than a century ago, and it's on the land my family has been farming and ranching since the 1830s. My long-term commitment to the area is reflected in my approach to problem solving. I look beyond the next election cycle to the district's needs five, ten, and even more years from now.
Over the coming months we intend to set a new standard for constructive, grassroots campaigning. You won't hear partisan bickering from us. We believe that the root of Democracy is dialogue. We are Democrats, but we respect the concerns of our Republican supporters, and we're counting on their interaction as we propose responsible fiscal policy that addresses the long-term needs of our district.
