I'll be doing a short tour in mid-May. Greg Beshers and Matt Kohut-two former Magnet guys- and Sluggo will be playing with me. My son Richard is going to play a Jimi Hendrix song with them (I'll leave the building, thank you) when we play here in Douglas. He has to stand outside until its his turn, run in, play, and run out. They're very uptight about the police--as you can imagine, bars aren't real popular here and it seems the police are always ready to pounce (Richard is 17).

Anybody have a map of Florida? Remember I told you I had cut it off my map after our triumphant tour last year and now I gotta find out how to get to St. Petersburg!!

My son Austen, who lives in Athens and is the artist of the family, won a state-wide contest a month ago!!!!! The contest was for the State Education Department which is planning a new reading program. Entrants had to design the "stuff" which will go along with it--buttons, calendars, etc. The presentation of the award was in Macon which is about 2 hours from where I live. I had thought of going, but didnt know where it was being held or anything, so didn't. And it's a good thing, too, because Austen didn't go either!!!! He said he "woke up late". Oh well, like mother, like son.

Lots of tornado action here in the southeast. Luckily none of it has headed this way, but now they're saying this is the new Tornado Alley. Great!! One more reason to love Georgia.

The VU Bootleg project is chugging right along-thanks to Sal Mercuri. Still dont know a date for release, but I think it will be within 3 months or so.

John Craig was here for a 2 day visit. He had gone to the Masters (golf) to see some practice rounds and then drove down here. He came bearing Easter lillies and also brought Kate (my daughter) some OLD Stones vinyl!! I told her to keep an eye on them cause they sure looked good to me!

Keith-you remember HIM - - did his first roadie job in Athens this past week-end. Widespread Panic was playing there and he managed to get a job helping set up the stage out in front of the 40 Watt Club. I told him to get out a piece of paper and start the roadie resume!
