August 23rd, 1997 Well, I did my thing on the children's album and Clay was real pleased. Phew! On my way to Savannah I was a little worried and then I realized that Clay knows how I sing and therefore wasnt expecting anything else! This record will be out on Feb. 23rd and when I know where it will be available, I'll post it. I also went to NY and worked with Vegetarian Meat. I had a good time and was very impressed with the Veg's! Two nice "kids" (I'm sure they'll appreciate THAT!), Alex and Manish, excellent lyrics, fun music. What more can you ask for from Rock & Roll? I played drums, sang one song, and thumped the piano slightly. Dean Wareham dropped by, as did his wife, Claudia and she sang (elegantly!!) on one song. One of my email friends told me that his young daughter (5-ish, I think) has two turtles who are named Lou and Moe,and "they never fight". An old friend of Sterling's who has become a dear friend of mine has offered to put up the money for my next album!!!!!! This is stunningly exciting news. I had pretty much given up the idea of recording again because I dont have the money and I sure didn't want to have to deal with another record company that doesn't bother distributing OR paying! |

My honeybun Lou gave my son Richard a beautiful custom built Fender Stratocaster! Richard has been playing for about 1 1/2 years, is 16, and of course yearned for a good guitar. After searching music stores in Los Angeles (where I foolishly thought I could find SOMETHING decent for maybe $200 ) when I was there in June, I had to report to him the bad news that even a new one would cost $400. I told him to write to Lou and see if he might have something around that he didnt want anymore and would be willing to sell. Richard and I were both thinking in terms of something that wasnt worth much to anyone and that Lou might be just as happy to get out from underfoot. Well, Lou's answer was to send Richard this beautiful, beautiful, very expensive guitar, with the understanding that he was giving it to Richard, but if it would make me feel better (Lou knows me!), Richard could "pay" him $100 for it. Needless to say, Richard is in heaven! The only problem is, Richard is a Hendrix freak! No matter how I try, I cant get him to play some damn Bo Diddley!!! Where have I failed? As a sort of postscript to this story, I'd like to thank Lou for being so sweet to my baby! It goes without saying that Richard appreciates this gesture, but rest assured, I DO TOO!!! Thanks, Honeybun.xxooo Click here to check out my new tour dates (with Magnet)...
