December 11th, 1997 My trip to NY went very well. We (Kropotkins) played at the Bottomline to a small but appreciative audience which included my cousin Arlene and her husband Steve, Mr. John Cale, my very good friend and sweet guy Sal Mercuri and his wife Trish, and Matt Kohut (former Magnet bass player, which is how I became friends with him, but he's much more then that! Matt played standup bass, guitar, and piano on my new cd's and has played with Ween and currently plays with a band called The House of Swank in and around Lambertville, NJ.) Matt's friend JP came with him and we three had a nice visit over coffee after the show. We (The Kropotkins) also recorded an album and I am thrilled with it! The music is very different--not out and out rock, but touches of blues, backwoods, fun. Its really very interesting and I LOVE the singer-Lorette Velvette. She's really such an interesting singer!! I keep using the word interesting, but I cant think of another more appropriate one. We hope to interest someone in putting it out, but if not I hope we'll do it ourselves. |

My son Richard and I went out and got our tree tonight. We got one of the last seven trees in town--no kidding! The trees began appearing about 2 weeks ago and by tonight one place had none left and the other had seven. I told you its tough living in Douglas!! Watch for a page about the upcoming Velvet Bootleg Project. Polygram is starting to work on putting out cd's of any bootlegs they (we) can find. If any of you knows of anyone who might have source tapes of any bootlegs, please let me know so that we can approach them about buying them. We'd like to use as many source tapes as possible, rather then just use bootlegs to bootleg! This weekend is my son's graduation in Atlanta and I will pick up the cd's while I'm there. I will start filling orders next Monday. Thanks to all of you who have ordered---so far. Keep them coming!
